The passage I chose for annotation is the
official statement of Iran government declaring the importance and
irreplaceable status of women in family. The article mentions that women are
the guidance and mainstay of family, and the functions of them are to steady
and form the practice and traditional value of an Islamic family as to be a
good mother and wife and daughter. They assume that women’s tribute to family
is pure, sacred, and significant, also the inception and improvement to the society.
Also, the statement declares that women’s activities in the family would not become
negative affect for them to pursue success in the society such as education or occupation.
However, whether if it is true is still remain unknown.
Inevitably, the statement mentions about
how the western notions of women go against all the purity and chastity of
women. In their opinions, the western society often force women to become a
sign of sexual tool or encourage them to abandon the importance to maintain a
family or even to be single. They accuse that when such ideas are being
spreading into Iran, they destroyed the most of their traditional notion of
women’s function in the family, which is not allowed for them to happen. The
alienation and objectification of women, to the Iran government, are the most
damaging injure and insult to women, in their notions.
Whether the declaration of women’s function
in family or the accusation of positioning women in the state as a sign, we can
say that most of our society is a mix of these two extreme ideas. Seeing Women as
family-bounded animals is not strange idea for us, on the other hand, there are
also lots of metaphor or symbols that put women in a particular way of being in
the society conveying to us through media or celebrity. How to exactly position
women, what is the exact function that women analogy are intractable questions
in the more and more complicated world.

回覆刪除W: After your annotation, I really like your topic because I think the unequal relationship between men and women are very obvious. But most of us all think that that is not correct. But the situation still exists in our society. So, I’m interested in some of your key words. First is the sign of sexual tool. Your article mentions that western society thinks women are the sign of sexual tool.
L: Every time when people mention about prostitution, what is your impression of prostitution? It is always associated with women, right? And also when you think of sexual crime like rape or sexual harass, you often consider a man harass a woman or a woman harass a man? It is a very straightly impression of women. They are always attacked under the pressure of sex. So it is because woman is the sign of sexual tool.
W: One of the man functions for women to maintain a family, so I think a mother plays an important role in a family. But maybe father can do the same thing.
L: But in this Iran’s government they even suggest that a mother shouldn't put a child to kindergarten to put a child to a protection and you go work by yourselves. They suggest that mothers’ work about taking care about children is a purity of maintaining a family. They emphasize mother’s function very very much more than men. So I think your question is also our question. You would like to question Iran’s government why a father’s character is not as same as father.
W: Do you want to be that kind of women? Just as western concept western society given on the women’s role, good mother and a good daughter good wives care about others and sacrifice your own rights.
L: I will not totally agree with them because I think combination of a family is every member’s work. Every member is important to a family. But declaration of Islam’s government is most mainly based on their religion, their believe to their 真主. So they pave a way that they fit their religion the most. And I don’t think we should follow this rules completely. We could choose our own way of lives whether we should play the role in a family, or we should go to live our own lives. It depends on us. I’m not quite sure in which way I will chose my future. But no matter where I chose to go into a family, I still lead my own way of live.
W: You mention the appearance and the relationship between a fair appearance and talents. I’m curious about if you are an Iran woman, you will chose a more beautiful appearance or an excellent talent in certain aspect?
回覆刪除L: Nowadays Iran’s women still have limitation of their expression of their talents. Also their appearance has limitation to be shown. Both in Islamic countries it is not any other ways that can be more suitable ways of lives for them because neither can make them truly express themselves. If I’m an Islamic woman, I’ll chose a talent side because only intelligence and education can make you change the notion of society and change their mind of women’s status.
W: Your article mentions lots of information. Not only focus on Iran’s government’s concept but also western society. It is very correct information to compare these two different thinking. Nowadays, in Taiwan, unequal relationship is still. Although we think the situation in Iran country is very shame, so strange. But I think there are still a lot of examples in Taiwan’s society. Present the same. Women are not treated equally. If you are a woman, you do the same job like a man in the same company, in the same position. But if you want to get a higher level, maybe women will be more difficult than men. It's very the same situation. Do have any thought about women’s function except for her role in her family? If we don't put women to family, what kind of function can women offer to the society?
L: Before I answer this question, I think we should totally break the limitation or our stereotype between men and women. Just like you think what a man can fulfill that women can also do them. I’m also very hunted by the idea: what is the true value in women’s society. It is a very difficult question to answer because there is no stable answer and different from person to person. The rules of thinking women’s function is that you have to break the stereotype and boundary, and that women and men are all the same. They can do anything not mentioned to gender question.
W: Why did you choose your resources from official statement of Iran’s government instead of topic on a magazine?
L: Actually the article I choose is from China’s radio program on a website. The website is like media of declaration of Iran’s government. Also I choose this article because we are not so familiar with Iran’s official statement that why do they pressure women so much. We are not very clear about their reason and excuse. So I chose this like a opposite side of my thesis when I decide to discuss whether they own the right to provide women’s right. It is due to their religion.
